Emanuel Gray

Associate Minister

“I’m so humbled to serve as a minister here at Fairlawn Baptist Church.”

On July 26, 1952, Mrs. Alberta Gray gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Emanuel. Emanuel was educated in the Savannah-Chatham County public school system and graduated from Sol C. Johnson High School. After working small jobs, he found one that he really loved at Union Bag, now known as “International Paper,” from whence he retired in 2013 after over 39 years of service.

Emanuel was previously a faithful member at Asbury Methodist Church, where he served as an usher, youth Sunday School teacher as well as an adult bible study teacher.  At Asbury, there were several times he was asked to preach the word. Whatever the church needed of him, he was there.

July 2000, he married Glenda and between the two of them they have 11 children, 24 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In 2006 he and his wife joined Fairlawn Baptist Church where he serves as an associate minister under the leadership of Pastor Harold Edwards, Sr. and as an ambassador for Christ.

Christ is a topic that Min. Gray can speak on for days. One of his sayings is, “I talk about what I love and what I know about.”
